SYNOPSIS

People Make Plans is a poignant story of love, loss, resilience, and reinvention set on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Recently divorced after a long and troubled marriage, Shelly is trying to rebuild her life in the castle-like home she and her ex-husband once created as a dream vacation rental. But with money problems mounting, a relentless lawyer pressuring her to sign the property over, and the future she imagined slipping further away, Shelly finds herself fighting to hold on to the one place that still feels like hers.

At the center of her world is Ray, her beloved German Shepherd and heart dog, whose failing health becomes another heartbreak she cannot outrun. When Shelly befriends Rachel, a younger woman trapped in an abusive marriage, and leans on the wisdom of her older friend Rebecca, she begins to discover that even in grief, family can form in unexpected ways.

Set against the beauty and spirit of Big Island life, People Make Plans is a moving story about heartbreak, hope, and the courage to begin again.
